10 Reasons To Get A CarFax Report

10 Reasons To Get A CarFax Report
By Aurel Radulescu

A CarFax report is affordable. For less than $50.00, consumers can learn everything that they need to know about a vehicle before agreeing to make a purchase and signing on the dotted line.

With a CarFax report, you will be able to confirm the automobiles VIN number, year, make and model. This is important in making sure that you are purchasing the automobile as it is being presented to you for sale.

With a CarFax report, you can find out if the automobile has ever been flooded or has been repaired for any flood damage. This is very important, especially if purchased in areas that are prone to flooding, hurricane damage, etc. Even if an area is not prone to flood damage, there is always the possibility that an automobile has traveled through high water or been exposed to it at some point.

With a CarFax report, you can find out if the automobile has ever been involved in any type of car accident and, if so, what damages were reported. Every day, automobile accidents occur and the damages often require extensive repairs. It is important for you to know whether or not the automobile you are considering purchasing has ever had any type of damage.

With a CarFax report, you can find out if the automobile has ever suffered from any type of fire damage and, if so, what repairs were made to correct the damages.

With a CarFax report, you can make sure the automobile has a clear title and does not have any liens. This is very important when you purchase an automobile, home or even raw land. If you purchase something that does not have a clear title, you are basically throwing your money away. If you receive a clear title, you will have full ownership of the car and will be able to legally resell it in the future.

A CarFax report will confirm the number of miles to be the original miles as noted on the CarFax report. The sad, but honest, truth is that there are some individuals who attempt to falsify an automobiles actual miles in order to collect a higher sale price.

With a CarFax report, an individual can learn how many previous owners the car has had. This is important in considering why the car has had multiple owners, if it has, and may be a sign that something is wrong. An automobile with only one owner is more likely to be reliable as opposed to one that has been shuffled amongst multiple owners.

With a CarFax report, you can find out what, if any, repairs have been made on the automobile. This is important in considering what type of recurring problem there may be with the automobile or whether or not you are purchasing a lemon. A car that has had excessive repairs, either in various parts or in one particular area, may be an indication that you should be prepared to spend some time at the repair shop as the new owner.

And finally, a CarFax report provides overall peace of mind in knowing that you did the research and are not relying on the seller to provide accurate information. An informed buyer is a smart one.

You've Got To Love The Porsche 914

You've Got To Love The Porsche 914
By Wayne P. Treister

Back in 1969 Porsche was about to make a lasting impression on the world with the introduction of the sporty, mid mount 4 cylinder boxer engine, two seater Porsche 914.

The design of the 914 was the result of the Porsche and VW working together to produce a new sports car for each of the companies. VW was looking to find a replacement for the Karmann-Ghia and Porsche was looking to use the 911 components but get a fresh new model.

In Europe Porsche took the 914 body and finished it as the 914/6s while VW took it and finished it as the 914/4s. When marketed in North America both were sold as the Porsche 914.

The 914 did not look like any other Porsche on the market. It featured pop up headlamps, flat deck lid over the rear engine, no backseat, and a vertical rear windshield.

The low profile seats mean you are almost sitting on the floorboards and the firewall is located right at your back. There's nothing fancy about the inside, in fact it is very basic. But it also has all the equipment you'll ever need.

It features a nice large tach which remained popular in many models. It has the same transmission that's used in the 928 where you'll find first down and over to the left.

The suspension is hard, the car rides low gripping the road, and the steering is nice and tight. This is a really sporty little car and when the suns out and the winds warm you can pop the targa top off, roll down the windows, and relax.

The flat 4 cylinder mid mount was available in a 1.7 L providing 80 HP, 1.8 L providing 79 HP, and 2.0 L providing 95 HP. All engines come with a 5 speed manual transmission. It has the independent front with lower control arms, anti roll bar, spring struts. The independent rear has transverse torsion bars and anti roll bars.

Wondering what kind of performance this little gem is capable of? You'll be just a little impressed. The 2.0 L used in the 1973 is probably the most popular of the three engines released. It's a blast to put the petal to the metal and listen to the sound of that rpm band and oh yes let's not forget the power.

From 1970 to 1972 the 914-6 was released but it didn't last very long with less than 3500 actually produced. There were also a small number of 914-6 GTs produced at the same time. They were given the higher performance 911 engine and suspension designed for the race track.

The 914-6 was agile with quick acceleration and good handling and breaking. In fact in many aspects it was considered superior to the 911. To drive it felt much like the 914-4 but in the upper RPM it definitely had more punch.

1974 the cars destined for North America saw the introduction of the 1.7 L engine which was bored to 1.8 L. It was combined with the Bosch fuel injection system for the emissions control required in North America.

1975 saw the end of an era when production of the 914 was ended. Eventually it would be replaced by the 924 and the 914's 2 L engine was continued in the 912E considered a level entry model.

When it comes to cool and gotta have the 914 definitely fits the bill. This is a great little sports car that's nice and peppy, has great handling, and lots of snap. And with today's high fuel costs it's a real treat in that department too. You do need to watch for rust though. It is the biggest enemy of the 914.

If you love the look of the sports cars from the 1970's, understand the value of a Porsche, and like to stand out in a crowd the Porsche 914 is definitely a car to consider. So is this the car for you?

Wayne has been owned and ridden Porsches for 15 years. Visit his Porsche site at http://www.porschesworld.com to learn more about Porsche 944.

Spinning Rims Will Add All The Flash That You Crave For Your Vehicle

Spinning Rims Will Add All The Flash That You Crave For Your Vehicle
By Kevin Brown

Have you fixed up your car just the way you want it? You have the flashy paint job, and the pumping stereo, now what about the wheels? If you are looking for a bit more flash to add to your wheels, then you need spinning rims for your ride. Spinning rims are a hot way to add some pizzazz to your car and really draw some attention to your tires.

Spinning rims were popularized with the hip hop movement and have since grown more and more popular with car lovers everywhere. Spinning rims, or spinners as they are often called are so impressive looking on a vehicle because they give the illusion that the wheels are still spinning even when the car is at a complete stop.

Spinners work because of centrifugal force. Basically when the vehicle is running and driving, the spinning rims are moving slower than the tire itself, and sometimes the rims stop moving completely. But when the vehicle stops at a light, the rims continue moving while the wheel is stopped, this gives the illusion that the wheels are still moving.

Spinning rims will truly make a vehicle look amazing; they just add that special final touch to an already flashy car. If you are looking at getting spinners you might be wondering what kind to get for your vehicle.

The first thing to consider when you decide to go ahead and pick out spinners is to find out the maximum wheel size for your vehicle. Some manufactures make all sizes of spinning rims, while others specialize in only certain sizes. Spinning rims typically come in the sizes 18 20 22 23 and 24.

Many spinning rims are simply attachments that work with the existing custom wheels on your vehicle. If you are buying spinners that are attachments, they basically attach to the wheels with special lug nuts. The rims bolt into the wheel using special bolts that attach to the lug nuts which then allows for mounting of the spinning rims.

If you want spinner rims then you should be sure that you have a rear wheel drive vehicle. A rear wheel drive is important because the wheels are deep enough for the spinners to fit inside. It is important that the spinners do not sit outside of the wheel, because they could cause damage to the wheel or even the vehicle itself. And most importantly, spinners that sit outside of the wheel could be dangerous. Front wheel drive cars normally do not have wheels that have enough room for the spinner attachments to sit inside, therefore they will sit out.

But do not despair if you have a front wheel drive vehicle, you can still have the flashy addition of spinning rims. There are certain brands, such as Diablo that manufactures a front wheel drive custom wheel that is offset and allows for the use of spinners. You can also choose a package of custom wheels and spinners instead of purchasing them separately.

Besides the spinners that come as attachments, you can also buy spinning rims combined with the wheels. Dub and Omega are examples of popular brands that sell combination packages. Dub sells packages that will work with front wheel vehicles as well, so that you can put spinning rims on your front wheel car and not worry about damage or danger.

You can purchase spinning rims individually as an attachment component or as a package with wheels and even with tires as well. The prices of spinners can range fairly dramatically from a few hundred dollars up to over $11,000 for an entire set of four spinners with tires. The prices vary depending on if you are buying a complete package, or simply an attachment component. Also, the size of the wheel that you require will affect the price as well.

There are many popular brands of spinning rims that you can choose from. Some of the best and most popular brands are Dub, Diablo, Spintek, Davin, Latrell Sprewell, Omega and Excess. Whatever brand you choose be sure that your rims have high quality bearings and are manufactured well to ensure the best possible performance and a long life for your spinners.

There are many different ways for you to buy spinning rims and one of the easiest ways to shop for and purchase spinners is by using the internet. On the internet you will have access to hundreds of different stores that specialize in selling spinning rims and other car accessories. On the web you will be able to browse through many different styles of rims, different colors, and different configurations. You will also be able to easily check out a large number of manufactures all in one place.

One of the biggest concerns when you buy something large on the internet is how you will have it shipped to you. When you buy spinning rims on the internet from one of the many online dealers, you are likely to get free shipping. Remember when you choose a seller, to choose one that has a high rating, and it is best to get personal recommendations. But if you cannot get a recommendation that be sure that the seller you choose offers a satisfaction guarantee and a warranty.

There is a lot to consider when you are shopping for spinning rims. However the bottom line is that you want your car, truck or SUV to look amazing. And with spinners, your vehicle will look flashy and you are sure to catch everyones attention no matter what style or brand you choose.

Checking Your Car

Checking Your Car
By Kum Martin

Heres the low down on checking out the used car that you have finally set your eyes on. Take a look at the following points before you decide to take it out on a test drive.

Lean down and look down the side of the car check for dents and dimples.Check the bumper cars for scratches and look at the wheel hubs for dents and scratches.

Is the car too shiny? This may mean that the car dealer or seller or trying to hide something. This also implies to the engine bay, an engine bay should be slightly dusty and have grime on it. If the engine is sparkling clean you can be sure that the car has oil or coolant leaks.

Take your hand and run it under every door panel, under the wheel-arches and check the bumper edges. These are the likely areas where rust will first appear.

Check the tires on the car. Check not only the thread, also check to see if the tires are original or retreads. Uneven wear is a telltale sign of suspension problems.

Does the interior smell? Smoke smell will have smoke stains on the fabrics and the smell will be embedded in the ventilation filters. A musty smell may indicate water leakage.

How does the seat upholstery, pedals and console wear look? Does it look appropriate to the cars mileage?

Press every button on the console and make sure the function works. Listen for any rattles in the console and ventilation fans. Turn off the engine then switch it to AC to check the engine and onboard computer warning lamps are working properly.

Turn on the hazard lamps, headlamps and press the brake pedal. Ask your friend to inspect the exterior lighting to ensure that all are working properly especially the brake lamps.

Now take the car on a test drive. Listen intently, look at the warning lamps, feel the steering and handling, sniff for any smells open the window and listen for engines ticks, rattles or fluid smells that may come for the warming engine bay.

Do Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) Have A Practical Purpose On Diesels?

Do Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) Have A Practical Purpose On Diesels?
By Nathan Young

There are many people out there that will justify anything that they can so they can feel good about doing something, or having something in their possession. The question is, does nitrous have any practical application on a diesel engine, but first a little information about nitrous oxide.

The Nitrous kits for diesels that we run are pretty easy to install, with all of the wiring and solenoids self contained in two boxes, with all necessary hardware and fittings. And can even be installed if you have NOT O-ringed your heads, although if you do have stock heads you should limit the amount of nitrous being sprayed.

Nitrous Oxide when burned at high temperatures, releases oxygen. With nitrous burning it allows for a 50% saturation of oxygen, while atmospheric air only allows for about a 20% saturation of oxygen. The more oxygen, the more power. Nitrous dramatically increases power instantly. Nitrous also will dramatically lower the exhaust gas temperatures. Propane will also lower exhaust temperature some, but nothing like nitrous will. But does it have any real application?

Nitrous could be used in very small shots to keep things cool and give a little power, but the price would be way too much for the gain that you would get. Other than that, nitrous is friend only to those who are challenged to a drag race, or for the man who just has to be the fastest. There is really no towing application for nitrous oxide. With anything that will increase power so dramatically you need to take precautions as well, and should have a full set of gauges and the ability to monitor all of your engines parameters. So in conclusion, does running a nitrous oxide system have any real application on a diesel engine? Answered as an individual that has to have all the bells and whistles, Im going to have to answer with an emphatic YES! So its only real purpose is for fun and racing.

Nathan Young is owner and operator of Parley's Diesel Performance, and is a Diesel Nitrous enthusiast.

10 Pointers for Navigating With Your Vehicle in Ice and Snow

10 Pointers for Navigating With Your Vehicle in Ice and Snow
By Kathy Steinemann

Even so-called 'hot' areas of the world like Florida can be hit with sudden cold temperatures which result in frost and black ice on highways. Wherever you live or travel, you should be aware of how to cope with snow and icy driving conditions. The 10 tips in this article will help.

Preparation

1. Make sure that you can see in all directions.

Before setting out on your trip, scrape all ice and frost off windows and brush snow away from the hood, roof, headlights, and taillights. Idling your car for about 5 minutes with front and rear-window defrosters engaged will make this job easier. Pay special attention to headlights and signal lights.

2. Inspect your tires.

You should have good all-season or winter tires. If they don't have sufficient tread, replace them. Check the air pressure of all tires, including your spare. You may need to consult your driver's manual. In many cars, recommended tire inflation pressure is printed on the driver's-side door post. Properly-inflated tires in good condition will give you better control and traction on the road.

3. Fill the gas tank before you leave.

A full or nearly-full gas tank will make your vehicle heavier. This promotes better handling on ice and snow. Frequent refueling stops may seem like a nuisance, but they will allow you to get out of the car and stretch - and help to prevent road-hypnosis and fatigue.

While You Travel

4. Never tailgate!

It is normally recommended that you stay 2 seconds behind the vehicle in front of you *-in good weather conditions on dry roads-*. If you are driving through slush, snow, or ice, you should at least quadruple the safety margin. A safer distance would be 10 seconds. Take note of a tree, fencepost, or other prominent item right beside the vehicle in front of you. Then begin to count slowly: 1001 - 1002 - 1003 - and so on - up to 1010. If you pass the reference item before you reach 1010, you are driving too fast. Gently ease off the accelerator until you are 10 seconds away.

5. Perform gradual steering and speed corrections.

Never make sudden lane changes - and always brake gently. A car can become an out-of-control missile if you ignore this rule. Turn your steering wheel slowly and pump brakes lightly. ABS brakes will automatically do the pumping for you if you apply soft, continuous pressure. If you decide to pass another vehicle, be sure that you have more room than usual, then edge out into the passing lane and gradually back into yours when safe to do so.

6. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles are superior.

Front-wheel drive vehicles are assisted by engine weight to naturally increase their traction and efficiency in snow. All-wheel drive systems automatically sense when one wheel doesn't have the same traction as the others, and will adjust torque accordingly. Rear-wheel drive vehicles don't have a lot of weight where you need it - above the rear wheels. To compensate for this, you can load sandbags or heavy luggage in your trunk. If possible, heavier passengers should travel in the back seat.

7. Skids don't have to scare you!

When in a skid immediately take your foot off the accelerator and DO NOT USE THE BRAKES! Steer gently in the direction of travel once you feel that the vehicle is back in control. Advance practice in an icy or snowy vacant lot may help you to become more proficient at steering out of skids.

8. Don't use high-beam headlights in a snow storm.

High beams reflect off snowflakes in the air. Use your low-beam headlights instead. They are directed down onto the road in front of your vehicle, providing much better visibility.

9. Entering a curve?

If you have to slow down for a curve, do so before you enter it. Speed changes while navigating a bend in the highway can throw your vehicle into a spin. If you accelerate or decelerate while navigating a curve, do so very gradually.

10. Adjust your speed for road conditions.

Posted speed limits are based on optimal conditions during dry weather and good visibility. Slow down! If you feel that you don't have full control of your vehicle, you are driving too quickly.

Advance preparation and reviewing these tips before you travel can make the difference between an enjoyable trip - and a disastrous one.

Zero Percent Financing Offered By Ford

Zero Percent Financing Offered By Ford
By Jay Stevens

Up until Labor Day, you can purchase a Ford vehicle with zero percent financing for seventy two months. This was the main piece of news that the Ford Motor Company announced just very recently to the motoring public and to the automobile industry. Primarily, this move was done so as to sell out any remaining 2006 Ford vehicle models and in the process give way for the 2007 Ford line up.

If you have not yet heard, the Ford Motor Company has been suffering for several months now because of low and declining sales. Aside from that, the company is also suffering from loss of funds for they had just recently sent out a huge recall of several Ford vehicle models that were found out to be prone to starting fires. Of course, with that, the company would have to shell out huge amounts of money so as to replace any affected parts like Ford Granada parts as well as spending the money on people who would be doing the replacements and the testing of the recalled vehicles.

As per this new incentive program from the auto manufacturer from Dearborn, the company clarifies that this has been done not just for those customers who have excellent credit and live on the high end. Whitney Drake, one of Fords spokespeople, further explains that this program could be availed by anybody who is interested and simply has good credit scores. If you are interested, the zero percent financing program includes 2007 vehicles models from the company like the 2006 Ford Lincoln as well as 2006 Mercury vehicle models. Also included in the list is the Ford F-series pick up truck which is one of the companys best selling vehicles.

On the end of experts in the automotive industry, Paul Taylor, the chief economist of the National Automobile Dealers Association or the NADA, has his own analysis of the situation. He explains, After a hot summer and moderate sales, expect hotter sales pace in Big Three trucks fueled by incentives, and some increase in fleet placements. And this is exactly what Ford is doing.

RV Tire Protection

RV Tire Protection
By Warren Hull

Very few RV tires actually wear out. Most of them rot out due at least partially to the sun. The sun's UV rays are persistently working away at the tire rubber. This deterioration leads to cracks in the sidewalls and tread areas. When these cracks get bad enough, your tire gives up. The result is at best a flat tire, at worst, a blowout. All of us have seen rigs along side the road with shredded tires.

Too often, the damage is not just the tire, but also damage to the rig. Sometimes, the end result is loss of control and a crash. It is important to actually inspect your tires for proper inflation and condition each trip out. If you have any doubts, go to your trusted tire supplier for an inspection. The life you save might be mine.

You cant stop tire deterioration, but you can sure slow it down. Just like you protect your skin from the sun, you can protect your tires from the sun. One of the best methods is to keep your tires out of the sun. How? Cover your tires. There are vinyl tire covers that wrap around the tire. There are flat tire covers that attach to the side of your rig and drape over the tires. The wrap around are less expensive, but more difficult to install. The flat allow air to circulate, match the rig better, easier to install especially without getting your sleeves dirty, but cost more. Plywood can be leaned up against them, but it does look tacky. Some chemical compounds can be applied like sun tan lotion. Not all work equally. In fact, some tire companies speak out against them. There are some that probably do more damage than good.

Actual use of your rig promotes tire longevity. The flexing of the tire through use actually releases some of the internal rubber compounds. These components help protect the tire. There is nothing like another reason to use your RV. If your RV is going to be parked for an extended period of time, then use a vapor barrier between the concrete or asphalt and your tire.

A major cause of tire failure is under inflation. Follow the instructions and inflate your tires to the proper pressure for your RV weight. Check the pressure when the tires are cold. Buy a decent tire pressure gauge from your local auto parts store. They are cheap when compared to the price of a tire. If you are not sure of the right pressure, your local tire store can help you. Tips on Buying a Used Recreational Vehicle

Tips on Buying a Used Recreational Vehicle
By Troy Shanahan

Buying a used recreational vehicle can be an intimidating undertaking, particularly if you do not know what you are searching for. The main thing to remember when looking for a used recreational vehicle is that it should align perfectly with your intended use. If you expect to use the recreational vehicle for an extended length of time, you need to make certain that the vehicle is working within strict mechanical standards and has enough horsepower to get to the places you want to go. It should be durable and safe, as well as excellent operationally so as to support a relaxed trip.

Buying a used recreational vehicle can also become somewhat of a roll of the dice. You cant always foresee what you are going to end up with in terms of just exactly how used a particular vehicle actually is. Thats why it is best to ask some questions and make sure you get answers.

If you arent satisfied with the answers at any point, stop the conversation and take your business to another dealer. Think about the information you are getting and take your time to explore options further. There is nothing worse than spending your money on something you do not really want, much less on something that will not serve its purpose within a few months and will become obsolete and useless.

Of course the first thing you will want to know about any used recreational vehicle is just how used it actually is. Looking at the vehicle itself is the best way to make sense of this issue. Try to uncover telltale signs of damage or possible problems with the exterior of the vehicle.

Dents, paint mismatches missing chrome can mean trouble. Have a look under the hood too; look over the engine for potential problems and talk to the dealer about it. Ask pointed questions about anything you do not understand. Dont be afraid to bring up any subject about your potential purchase. It is your money and your purchase, so your assurance is important.

Inquire about mileage, too. You want to know how far the vehicle has travelled on average trips, as well as how long has been driven in total. If it is used to making cross country voyages, it should be well broken in and durable enough for your purposes. If it has only experienced small trips, you may want something more experienced with larger trip sizes. But not too long trip sizes. All depends on your intended use for the used recreational vehicle.

10 MORE Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas

10 MORE Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas
By Pete Lance

Learn some of the best tips to get optimum gas mileage. Here weve compiled 10 more tips to help you stretch your dollar at the gas station!

If you have not seen our previous article (10 Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas), you might want to do a search for it on our website (http://www.usgastracker.org) or on Google.

Alright, on to the tips!

Tip 1: Watch Your Gas
You should be aware of the amount of fuel you use. Notice your car's performance, such as the mileage per gallon. When fuel efficiency decreases, your car may need servicing.

Tip 2: Buy Gas from a Busy Station
A gas station that is consistently busy has to refill its underground tanks regularly. Slower stations that don't refill as often may have stale contaminated gas in its underground tanks, and this contamination will affect your fuel economy.

Tip 3: Turn the Nozzle
After you have finished filling up your tank, you should twist the gas pump nozzle a full 180 degrees. This will drain a bit more gas into your tank, sometimes up to an entire half cup. If you don't do this, the extra gas would just be a bonus to the next gas customer.

Tip 4: Tighten the Gas Cap
Tighten your gas cap until it clicks. This will help prevent the gasoline from evaporating and escaping.

Tip 5: Check Your Cars Tire Pressure
You should check your car's tire pressure regularly. Under inflated tires reduce your car's fuel efficiency, and also causes premature tire wear, affecting the life-span of your tires.

Tip 6: Remove Excess Weight from Your Car
You should remove excess weight from your car. Some people use the car trunk as a storage space, adding unnecessary weight to the car. This will reduce your car's fuel efficiency.

Tip 7: Keep Your Car Tuned-Up
Always keep your car tuned up to ensure optimum performance. Car's that have not been serviced for a long time often have poorer fuel efficiency.

Tip 8: Use Your Car Less
You can try to arrange car pools with co-workers to reduce the cost of getting to work. To save even more, you can drive less and walk, bike or run to your intended destination, especially if the place is nearby.

Tip 9: Change Your Work Start Time
If it is possible, change your work start and end time to avoid traffic congestions. Stopping and going affects your gas mileage.

Tip 10: Dont Fill Up When the Price is High
Lastly, when the price is high, don't fill up. You should wait for the prices to go down before you fill up, especially if your gas tank is more than half full. Filling up when the price is high tells the gas companies that people are willing to pay ridiculous prices for gasoline.

#1 Problem for New Car Buyers

#1 Problem for New Car Buyers
By Al Hearn

Recent reports by automotive industry legal insiders say the top problem that gets car dealers into legal trouble is rolling negative equity into a new car loan or lease without telling customers.

Rolling negative equity from an old auto loan into a new loan or lease is not illegal. But it is if the customer doesn't know it's happening and isn't told. Unfortunately, many new and inexperienced car buyers don't understand negative equity and don't ask about it.

Negative equity is the difference between a vehicle's current market value, or trade-in value, and the outstanding balance on the customer's loan. In these days of long-term loans with little or no down payment, it's common for car buyers to be upside down for nearly the entire time they're paying off the loan.

Car dealers advertise that they will pay off your old loan, no matter what you still owe. That's true. But what they don't say is that the negative equity from the old loan will simply get rolled into the new loan, effectively creating two loans in one. New car buyers often miss the details of this maneuver, and aren't properly disclosed about it.

Sometimes, dealers mask this problem, and avoid the disclosure, by increasing a vehicle's cash price by the amount of the negative equity. Customers often find out about the problem after the deal is done.

This single problem accounts for the majority of all pending lawsuits against car dealers in the U.S., say the experts.

The problem doesn't always happen intentionally. Because most dealers have no guidlelines or procedures that require the disclosure, it often gets overlooked in the heat of deal negotiations.

Smart consumers will already know if they are upside down on their old loan before they enter a dealer showroom to purchase or lease a new car. They will also know that their negative equity will be combined with any new loan or lease, increasing monthly payments and loan costs. Even when the customer knows what is going on, it is not usually a good thing to do because it creates an even more serious upside down situation with the new loan.

MercedesBenz CClass Made Even Classier

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Made Even Classier
By Dwayne Thomas

Mercedes-Benz has recently launched its all new C-Class saloon in Germany and will be presenting the same C-Class in South Africa in August this year. The C-Class emphasizes three elements and these are comfort, agility, and safety.

Each of the Avantgarde, Elegance, and Classic lines emphasize a unique characteristic but share the same technologies such as the Agility Control package which includes a situation-sensor shock absorber control, an Intelligent Light System with five distinct functions and the Pre-Safe preventive occupant protection system. The new C-Class range is also equipped with the same quality auto components such as Mercedes Benz heater core. The Mercedes heater core is a small radiator that helps the primary radiator in cooling the coolant to prevent the possible overheating of the car.

The local specs are to be announced at a later stage and some options may differ from overseas markets. For the overseas theres a choice of four and six-cylinder engines with up to 13 percent more output than the previous model coupled with a six percent lower fuel consumption.

The C-Class Saloon has a length measuring 4581mm and approximately 55mm longer than its predecessor. The body width has also increased by 42mm to 1770mm while the wheelbase has an additional 45mm to 2760mm. these dimensions have enabled the front shoulder room to grow by 40mm.

The design of the new C-Class was derived from the modern Mercedes-Benz approach that includes taut lines, and large tranquil surfaces with the front end highlighting a pronounced wedge-shape. And for the first time in Mercedes Saloon, the radiator grille was used as a distinctive feature to make the model variants more visible in the market.

The sporty Avantgarde model features three extended, horizontal louvers and a big centrally positioned Mercedes-Benz star. The Elegance for its part gets a three-dimensional, louvered radiator grille with a high-gloss paint finish which accentuates comfort and luxury. The Classic model as the name suggests has designed that is traditional despite the fact that it is similar to the other two C-Class models in terms of ride and technical specs.

The engines of the C-Class have been increased by around 18 percent in torque while the four and six cylinder units also feature an improved smoothness. Great attention was also given to the further development of the four-cylinder mills. In the petrol range output of the entry-level C 180 Kompressor has been increased from 105kW to 115kW with maximum torque improved 4.5 percent from the previous 220 to 230 Nm, while the C 200 Kompressor develops 15kW more than before.

It also delivers an output of 135kW and revs up a maximum torque of 250 Nm from 2800rpm. It can sprint from 0 to 100km/h by 0.5 seconds faster that any of the previous models. The new C-Class were also made more economical, the C 180 Kompressor consumes 0.31/100km less than the before. On the other hand the combined fuel consumption of the C 200 Kompressor has been reduced by 0.51/100km.

The C-Class diesel option will focus on enhancement of the four-cylinder unit. There are already several improvements done to the engine, turbocharger and common rail direct injection altering more than 90 components in the process. The said modifications were done by engineers at Stuttgart. And as result of the conducted modification is a new C 220 CDI with a peak output of 125kW from the 110kW previously and delivers a potent torque of 400Nm from the previous 2000rpmagain an 18 percent increase power than before. Similarly fuel consumption has been further reduced by up to 0.31/100km and according to Mercedes Benz the C 220 CDI is capable of traveling 100 km on just 6.1 liters of fuel.

The C-Class offered in Europe remains unchanged with a choice of three petrol units developing 200kW, 170kW, and 150 kW. The new C 320 CDI with its six-cylinder engine has an output of 165 kW. All models in the new C-Class except for the C 350 are equipped with a six-sped transmission featuring Agility Control gearshift as standard. Instead the C350 will get a 7G Tronicthe worlds only 7-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. This feature is also available for the rest of the six-cylinder C-Class models on request.

07 Number Plates Go On Sale

07 Number Plates Go On Sale

James Bond fans will have a lot of fun finding new number plate combinations, with some examples including AO07 FAN surely the ultimate plate for any James Bond fan. Other interesting combinations include SH07 GUN and the rather raunch HO07 ERS. Meanwhile, CL07 HES, CL07 HED or LE07 ARD would be an ideal piece of marketing for anyone running a clothing business, and BR07 HER would make an excellent gift for a wonderful brother.

The new UK number plates system came into force in 2001, when the end of the old prefix series was reached. The first two letters in the new series of registrations are the area identifier. Each issuing authority will have its own area identifier(s), which denote the area in which the number plate was issued. The two numbers which follow are the age identifer. The first digit relates to the month in which the registration was issued 0 is March, whilst 5 denotes a September issue. The second digit refers to the year of issue. So, KC56 means the number plate was issued in Luton in the September 2006 allocation. The last three letters are a purely random combination.

Is There Such A Thing As A Trustworthy Mechanic?

Is There Such A Thing As A Trustworthy Mechanic?
By Kim Oxford

At some point everyone needs a mechanic for their car, and it's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic. However there are steps you can take to help you choose the lesser of all evils when it comes to who repairs your transportation. In the end you need to be able to trust the guy repairing your brakes, putting on your tires and monitoring your fluids.

Trusting Dealerships
Many of us just throw our hands up and take our car to the dealership when we have problems with them. If you consider that they are the experts when it comes to your specific make and model it's a smart option, unfortunately it's also a pricey one. When it comes to rare vehicles and some imports it is probably advisable to stick with dealership expertise. Same if you hold an extended warranty purchased from the dealership, at least be sure to stay within their approved mechanic circle to ensure you do not void any part of your warranty.

In reality most of us don't drive rare imports and don't want to pay the extra money the dealership will charge us. This coupled with the less than average customer service that many experience at the hands of any dealership service department make a trip there for repairs nothing short of a horror movie. Never fear, there are other options.

Chain Service Shops
There are many chain shops to choose from, which is confusing if you consider that many times mechanic shopping is done under duress. Give yourself peace of mind and research your mechanics before your car breaks down, so when something goes wrong you already know where to take it. Chain mechanics can be tricky, some franchise locations may employ better mechanics than others under the umbrella of the same name. This is generally a trial and error process, so if you find one you think you like, be sure to always have a plan B.

Neighborhood Mechanic
Not all of us are lucky enough to be in the car business, or even know anyone with any mechanical skill. However, many times a local neighborhood mechanic can be your best bet. Often they are mom and pop shops and that makes every customer an important one. This can also mean much more personalized service from someone who wants to get your future business. Lacking the impersonality of chain store mechanics just working for their hourly, this option may cost more than the chain stores do, but could just prove to be worth it in the long run.

No Matter Where You Go, Do These 3 Things First

Finding the good stuff is never easy, but if you follow the few simple steps below you can at least start off with the best to choose from

1. Look them up with the Better Business Bureau. Right away you can eliminate mechanics who have had negative reports filed about them. Our lives are busy, if someone took the time to report them, they aren't worth a second glance.

2. Utilize organizations such as the ASE, start off with options that are well endorsed.

3. Ask your friends. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a trustworthy mechanic, so be sure to ask around. Usually people are happy to share a good mechanic, lets keep the good ones in business folks.

Lease VS Buy A Car Always Lease It First And Save Money

Lease VS Buy A Car, Always Lease It First And Save Money
By Ralph Hoffmann

Lease a Car First and Buy it Later
Save lots of money. Analysis about buying or leasing a new car isn't necessary as long as cars are a glut on the market.

To own any car for the least possible price and dread doing a lease vs. buy analyses, don't buy the car; lease it then buy it later and save a lot of money.

Exploit the Glut of Cars for Sale
As long as car production is greater than consumption, and big discounts are available for several years to come, just read the market trends and lease it first and ignore all those lease vs. buy programs.

In the past, car manufacturers moved cars by subsidizing leases. The monthly lease cost was lowered by increasing the residual value, which lowered the monthly lease payment, thereby selling (leasing) more cars.

Lease Residual Values are Inflated in your Favor
But the value of the vehicle at the end of the lease was almost always less than the contracted residual and each of the off-lease cars then had to be sold in the wholesale market at a loss of several thousand dollars.

Some of the big backers of lease financing, Chrysler, some New York banks, and others, each lost several hundred million dollars in each of the past two or three years because they had to sell the off-lease cars on the open market for less than the residual value.

Take Advantage of Too Many Cars for Sale
Therefore the buy or lease a new car decision is moot as long as manufacturers are subsidizing leases because they have too many cars to sell; a one-time opportunity is present, namely:, lease it now and buy it at a discount the end of the lease and save thousands of dollars.

Having to make a lease vs. buy decision is no longer necessary as long as supply exceeds demand and the old rules are now dictated by a surplus of cars< on the market, this is the time of opportunity for an car buyer.

Compounding the problem for the heavily unionized manufacturers is that their labor contracts are so juicy that those car manufacturers are better off continuing to give away cars rather than to close a plant and pay unaffordable health and welfare and pension benefits to laid off employees.

This Opportunity will only last for Two or Three more Years.
This situation will not change for several years until consolidation, plant closings, or bankruptcies have cured the problem. until the. Plant closings will be a last resort.

Therefore the glut of new cars will likely continue for a few years. Now is the prime time to consider taking advantage of a declining resale value of most cars. The subsidized lease will continue to be offered

Should I Buy or Lease a New Car
By initially leasing a car, the maker is essentially offering a price that cant be beaten. It may actually approach or be lower than the employee cost widely advertised. Then buy the car at the end of the lease.

At the end of the car lease the company financially backing the lease most likely will sell the car on the open market at a loss. Why not intervene at that point and buy the car for less than the residual value and put that loss into your pocket as money saved?

Check out your Car's Used Car Value Prior to Lease End
About three months before the end of the lease, cruise the used car lots and notice what your car is being offered at. Note tha the used carprice is always higher than the resiudal value to allow for dealr costs and profit. A ten percent cushion is not unreasonable.

Then compare the asking price on the used car lot with the residual value in your lease contract. The residual value may be larger than the asking price for a similar model on the used car lot. That means that the company owning your leased car will have to sell it at a loss when you turn it in.

Now you put in the knife and buy the car (no commissions paid to anyone on this transaction) at the end of the Lease and keep several thousand dollars in your pocket.

Bypass the Dealer to make your Buyout Offer
From your dealer, get the phone number of the company that owns the car you leased. Call them and offer to buy your leased car for the asking price on the used car lot less about 10% at least.

If they object, point out that they will have to sell the car at a loss because the residual value is more than what the car is worth on the used car lot. They know that, but hate to admit it.

So lease the car of your dreams today and forget about excess mileage charges.

A true-life example
A business friend of mine had a three-year-old leased car with a contract residual value of $28,000. Looking at the used car lot he found he could buy one just like it for $24,000. He assumed the company that financed the lease would loose at least $2,000 in selling it for less than the contracted residual value.

Through the dealer he offered $22,000 to buy the car as is and his offer was promptly accepted, including 3%, 3 year financing. His dealings, all by phone (no face to face negotiations needed) were with the company financing the lease. To buy any car, or Van or SUV or Light truck, by all means consider the idea of lease vs. buy as your answer.

Honda Accord Coupe 2005: The Weekly Driver Review

Honda Accord Coupe 2005: The Weekly Driver Review
By James Raia

Just inside the guard gate, the world renowned 17-Mile Drive in Carmel, Calif., begins with a primarily downhill and often winding two-lane road to Pebble Beach Golf Links. The tree-lined route features lavish, oceanfront homes and a predominately forest-like setting along California's central coast.

It's a perfect several-mile locale for drivers who like to shift through gears. And it's not-so-surprisingly pleasant while doing so in the 2005 Honda Accord.

With its V6, six-speed manual transmission offering, the exceedingly popular model crosses categories. The Accord is listed as a midsize vehicle and it's often compared to the Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.

But the 24-valve, 3.0-liter, 240-horsepower coupe is just as much sports car as it is anything else. And it provides one more reason why the Accord in its more than 25 varieties is among the most popular and most often best-buy categorized vehicles on the road.

During my weeklong test drive, I drove the Accord Coupe round-trip from Sacramento to the Monterey Peninsula. The interstate portion of the journey included about 400 miles. I drove the aforementioned section of the 17-Mile Drive six times round-trip on clear, blue sky days and in heavy rain. It made little difference.

In all driving conditions, the Accord Coupe performed with confidence. Steering and handling is responsive and poised. Lane changes are smooth. While not as quick as other vehicles categorized as sports cars, the Accord Coupe accelerates well and finds its ways through gears more than adequately. Its 17-inch wheels further add to the tight road feel. The Accord's ride is also adequately quiet.

Like all Hondas, the Accord Coupe's interior is designed in a straightforward manner. Gauges and all instrumentation are clean and used simply. The navigation system is likewise efficient and easy to learn.

Despite its coupe status, front-seat passengers have comfortable leg, body and head room. Back seat passengers (two fit comfortably) have easy access. Side rear-view vision is slightly impeded by headrests and side pillars. The driver's seat, while comfortable for a six-foot, 185-pound driver, is void of the superior seat cushioning of high-end vehicles.

Standard interior features are plentiful: leather-trimmed seats, AM/FM, six-disc CD with six speakers, XM satellite radio, heated front seats, power window and door locks, illuminated visor vanity mirrors, cruise control, exterior temperature gauge, sunglass holder and well-positioned armrests and storage compartments.

Whether a buyer opts for the base LX four-door, four-cylinder sedan, the EX V6 four-door sedan or the EX, V6 coupe, the sportiest model of all, it's hard to improve upon the Accord or find any vehicle with more to offer for the price.

Dukes Of Hazzard 1969 Dodge Charger Star Car Sold For $9900500 On eBay

Dukes Of Hazzard 1969 Dodge Charger Star Car Sold For $9,900,500 On eBay
By Steven Farber

The most famous Star Car in television history is the orange 1969 Dodge Charger R/T called the General Lee. This car was the star of the mid-to-late 1970s television show called the Dukes of Hazzard and was part of America's redneck culture that featured fast cars, Daisy Duke, moonshine, hicks, and dense lawmen.

On Friday May 4, 2007 at 10:02 AM a recent version of this 1969 Dodge Charger R/T sold on eBay Motors (eBay auction item 250108256198) for $9,900,500.00. That's right folks, a cool 10 million dollars.

This car did not appear in any of the TV shows but did appear in a movie called The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood released in May 2000. John Schneider described the title as Dukes Go To Hollywood in the eBay listing. Also in the eBay listed was an image that indicated the General Lee was from John Schneiders personal collection and was built in December 1997 and was #4 of 4. Other images of the General Lee can also be seen in the eBay listing. The most important feature of this car is that under the hood are the autographs of all the living original cast members and crew that were on the TV show.

Most of us dont have 10 mil to spend on a Dukes of Hazzard 1969 Dodge Charger R/T but you can make your classic look and sound like one.

The original General Lee's landing gear were American Racing Vector SE Series 47 rims. American Racing has again introduced the classic vintage Vector SE Series 47 wheels. These rims had the style and appeal that brings back memories of the 1970s and the 01 General Lee. What could be more appropriate for your classic car than a set of American Racing Vector SE Series 47 rims.

The General Lee would not have been complete without its horn. The horn plays Way Down South in the Land of Cotton and is now known as the Dukes of Hazzard car horn. So announce your arrival or departure boldly with this popular salute to the south!

Dodge Sets Free A Roadster Demon With Soulful Attitude

Dodge Sets Free A Roadster Demon With Soulful Attitude
By Anthony Fontanelle

Ever wondered how the Dodge could transform into something wicked and devilish when it comes to roadster performance? Anticipation is soon to end this coming March at the Geneva Auto Show which would be held in Switzerland as the automaker intends to unravel the Dodge Demon - a sporty little rear-wheel-drive concept roadster.

How do you gauge a sporty roadster demon? It should be artsy, diabolical and a true dare-devil roadster. This formula is expected to create radical results among auto aficionados. That formula and more are resorted to by Dodge to create a compact, nimble and sporty roadster with soulful attitude. The roadster balances the classic sports car appeal with simplicity, modern design and performance to pave way for above-average vehicle.

For the very first time, the Dodge Demon will be flaunted at the International Motor Show in Geneva next month. While the iconic Dodge Viper is a dream car for many, the Dodge Demon is designed to be an attainable dream car, said Jae Chung Dodge Demon Principal Exterior Designer for the Chrysler Group. The exterior design is simple yet bold, featuring an energetic combination of curves and intersecting planes.

From the outside, the stunning temptress shows off its voluptuous bodyside that features flowing lines and curves. The lines flow up and over the front wheel of the roadster then drop diagonally to the rear fender. It directs cooling air to the rear brakes and EBC rotors. In addition, the compound rear fender surface curves up and over the rear wheel, reaching the trapezoidal taillamp. The latter uses sport translucent red inset lenses to blend the LED back-up lamps.

The distinct Dodge signature is mirrored in the Demons crosshair grille which is stuffed with aggressive opening that is thrust forward. Other artsy features of the roadster concept include the projector headlamps, elongated angled triangles and black chrome bezels that serve as Demons eyes. To add a brand new drive feel Dodge entertained a hinged hood aura.

In the manner of timeless British sports cars, the interior of the Dodge Demon is purposely functional, not frivolous, said Dan Zimmermann, Dodge Demon Principal Interior Designer. Everything relating to the driving experience is emphasized, while that which is not is made visually secondary.

Zimmermann added, The well laid out instrument panel, for example, is familiar, yet modern. Everything you really need the gauges, circular AC outlets, radio is encapsulated in a cross-car brushed aluminum bezel that also accentuates the width of the cabin. Secondary controls and features, such as the HVAC knobs and the passenger-side glove box, are located below this bezel.

The Dodge Demon brings forth lots of promises. From auto parts quality, performance, style and drive feel the automaker ensures that the Demons features could make it a hot-selling car. The Demon features open-spoke design, 19-inch brushed aluminum wheels, playful planes, silver and black manual shift knob, leather boot, silver and chrome bezel ring, and more. These features contribute to the roadsters fun-to-drive attitude. Each of these features is set flush, or nearly flush, with the bezel surface so as to establish a clear zone for the drivers shift arm in all seating positions, with nothing in the way of the driving experience.

Dodge does not intend to mass produce the roadster as early as this year. However, it will be considering the reactions of the consumers to warrant a feasibility study. If the concept will be produced, the automaker will be offering it with a base price similar to the Mazda Miata and the Pontiac Solstice.

Dodge Ram Air Intake : More Air for More Power

Dodge Ram Air Intake : More Air for More Power
By Joshua Zimmer

Decades have passed, and still, Dodge proves to be one of the forerunners of the auto industry. This is aside from the fact that age-long industry know-hows are coupled with precision craftsmanship that drives the company to utter excellence in their field. With each Dodge vehicle coming out of its assembly lines is a long-time assurance that it has passed the most rigid tests around, comprising the industry-exceeding parts and accessories for the maximum satisfaction of its customers.

Tracing from its humble beginnings, brothers John Francis and Horace Elgin Dodge have started out an auto company called Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company in 1914. Initially choosing 50 dealers from hundreds of applications, they began building motor trucks by 1917 - which was used by the United States Army during World War I, then went on commercially after the war.

Like the heavy performance of the Dodge Ram truck, Dodge vehicles are known for their powerful performance. Sure enough, its components are meticulously installed and scientifically made with the toughest materials possible to withstand extreme conditions. With the rugged personality of the Ram, it is imperative to have power-inducing parts greater than the usual to compensate for its horsepower needs. Such a power-inducing part is the cold air intake. In the combustion process in an engine, air is needed to burn fuel. Colder, denser air has more oxygen for more efficient combustion process. And to burn more fuel means more power for the engine to pack on to the cylinder. The cold air intake performs the role of a feeder to enable the Ram's engine for more horsepower and torque. This process is even more efficient as the air filter (a multi-layer cotton gauze with urethane body, then through a smooth aluminum duct to reduce the drag losses in the airflow which is an excellent filtration and great power-boosting intake charge) is relocated outside the engine compartment. At the same time, it saves on fuel mileage. And as the Dodge Ram cold air intake brings cooler air outside to the engine, the hot underhood air is ingested by the factory systems.

Cold air intakes like the ones installed on the Dodge Ram may vary in style. It may be made of plastic, metal, rubber (silicone) or composite materials (fiberglass, carbon fiber or kevlar). Because of the limited time air actually remains inside the intake tubing, the materials often do not impact a kit's ability to deliver cool air. Basic cold air intake replaces the stock airbox with a short metal or plastic tube leading to a conical air filter, or a Short ram air intake. The power gained by this method can vary depending on how restrictive the factory airbox is. The placement of the filter is usually directly in the engine compartment. Other improved intake designs utilizes heat shields to isolate the air filter from the rest of the engine compartment, providing cooler air from the front or side of the engine bay.

Advanced designs, or often called Complete cold air intakes, deliver air from outside the engine bay, usually from the wheel wells, front grill or a hood scoop. The intake can be placed such that the forward motion of the car pressurizes the air coming in, creating a ram-air intake. These intakes often require additional modifications and can require body modifications or replacement panels, such as a replacement am air-style hood. Complete Cold Air intakes are able to convert to short ram intakes. During the winter season, you can convert your cold air into a short ram intake.

With the off-road performance of the Dodge Ram, its cold air intake is sure to provide increased airflow and ambient temperature to add more horsepower and torque to your ride, even at critical times. It is an integral part of Dodge's commitment of serving utmost satisfaction for motorists. And this kind of dedication remains untarnished through time.

A busy 32-year old market analyst that has a kind of fetish for anything and everything about electronic gadgets. A single father with two sons, Joshua is also fond of putting accessories and mods (such as Dodge Ram Air Intake) that could fit well to his 2003 Dodge Ram.

Is The Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel For You

Is The Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel For You
By Dennis Estelle

I havent ridden in a Dodge Pickup Truck for several years. I was pleasantly surprised recently when I got to ride with a friend. There have been some major changes since the late 90's, that's for sure.

Remember the Old Days with Diesel?

Most people equate a bit Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Pickup truck with noise, dirt and discomfort. Boy are they wrong! The Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel is a pleasant surprise. It's as quiet as can be inside the cab and the truck takes you down the highway in smooth comfort. The Ram 3500 is powered by a 6-cylinder 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine that delivers 325. Its 4-speed automatic transmission has a handy Trailer Mode setting to help minimize those annoying up and down gear changes that take place when you're pulling something behind you.

Killer Good Looks

Just one look at the Ram 3500 tells you it's a real work truck -strong body lines, big wheels and tires, heavy duty rear springs and high ground clearance. The only problem seen here is that you might want to leave the wife or girl friend home, or add on some custom step bar. Of course that's a good rationalization for a custom upgrade. But the Ram 3500 Quad Cab Turbo goes well beyond functional to pull double-duty as a truck that can move two rows of passengers in decent comfort.

The Ram's paint finish and chrome trim are as good as you'll see on any mid to upscale car. The quad cab model is beautiful and you won't have any fight with the family if you want to carry them to church on Sunday in real style.

You'll love the pair of heavy duty tow rings that'll come in handy for pulling or being pulled. A look at the back of the Dodge Ram reveals the rigid factory bedliner that protects the bed from scratches and dings, and under the tailgate is a towing package with a Class IV receiver hitch and wiring plug. Lets just say, if you are serious about towing power and you want a REAL diesel, the Dodge Ram 3500 is for you.

Getting Pumped With Dodge Power Programmers

Getting Pumped With Dodge Power Programmers
By Andrew Bernhardt

The best thing about body building is that its the only hobby you never put away. Fishermen stash their rods and tackle in a shed, bicyclists hang their steeds on a rack in the garage and knitters shove their hooks and yarn into a basket and slide it under the bed. If you see these people without their gear, you have no way of knowing what fires their passion. This however, does not hold true when it comes to body building. You can put the kidney belt away, shove the Bow-Flex in the closeteven stash the Thigh-master; but the bulging muscle always go where I go.

But hey, Im not some simple muscle-head. When it comes to getting my swoll on, its more than developing prodigious pecks and gargantuan glutes. I also like to pump up the physique on my truck. Just like body building, hot rodding my truck is something I just cant put away. Even if Im out for a Sunday cruise, all that powerall that muscleits always there, ready to display. In fact, there happens to be more than a few similarities between these 2 extreme hobbies.

The deep, throaty tone that rumbles from my dual exhaust pipes is just like me tearing up a muscle-tee with my 25 guns. Those extra-wide tires scream strength and stability, much like the frightening bulge of my thunderous thighs. And, the stylish bumper on my Dodge Dakota R/T serves much the same purpose as shaving my back and slathering up with oila true testament to unbridled power. Much like my obsession with relentless body sculpting, I cant seem to stop pumping up the power on my Dakota.

The other day my fellow workout partner and hot-rod devotee, Johnny Thunder, turned me on to a new product. This is the closest thing to anabolic steroids for my truck that Ive ever seen. Much like roids, you just plug in to get instant results. Im talking about the Hypertech Power Programmer III. This hot little unit mainlines my Dakota R/T with a straight shot of go-juice; powerful enough to make Lou Ferrigno lose his lunch. Im talking the power and poise of Charles Atlas here. With the Hypertech in the R/Ts OBD port and a dumbbell in my hand, we are an unstoppable team.

Speaking of mainlining, I also installed a set of Venom performance injectors to feed that thirsty 5.9L Magnum engine. This little kick-in-the-pants added a whole new dimension to my morning commute, or work out as I like to call it. I get to the gym a hell of a lot faster now, giving me more time to sculpt my abs and forearms and giving the R/T more time to bask in the glare of envious stares.

The amount of power produced by this potent aftermarket cocktail is simply unimaginable, just like the power of my massive, python-like triceps. Now, I cruise around flexing 2 kinds of musclemy well-toned beefcake flesh and my well-tuned American steel. We are here to pump you up!

Get yourself Dodge truck accessories and start with a Hypertech Power Programmer.

Dodge Magnum Changing Dodge's Brand Image

Dodge Magnum - Changing Dodge's Brand Image
By Sarah McBride

One of the brand names of automobiles and light to heavy duty trucks that is marketed by the German yet American-based company DaimlerChrysler AG is the Dodge. The Dodge was purchased by Daimler-Benz along with other Chrysler subsidiaries in 1998, and is now a part of the DaimlerChrysler company. As per last year, the Dodge brand has become popularly known for its production of its trucks which takes up around seventy-eight per cent of its sales.

The Dodge Magnum, as a name, has previously been used on quite a number of various Dodge automobiles. The new Magnum is the first car under the Dodge name to use the new Chrysler LX platform that it shares with the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger. As per last 2004, the Dodge Magnum was revived as a station wagon. It has been made available with three engine options. The SE has the 190 hp, 2.7 liter LH V6. The SXT owns the 270 hp, 3.5 liter V6. And lastly, the RT features the new 5.7 liter Hemi V8. As per last year, it has also been made available with an all wheel drive on its SXT and RT models. One of the things that the new Dodge Magnum and the Dodge brand has to be proud of would be its being included on the Car and Drivers Ten Best list for 2005.

This new vehicle has easily won the markets heart compared to its predecessor, the Dodge Intrepid. One of the plans that Dodge has for the Dodge Magnum is for this vehicle to go on sale as a police variant so as to compete against the Ford Crown Victoria. These plans for the vehicle would be only made available to law enforcement, emergency agencies, and also government agencies. It will have the SXTs V6 for its motor and the Hemi as its option. It will also take with it police-specific options like a steering-column mounted shifter, deactivated interior rear windows and locks, and also bulletproof glass that would be mounted between the first and second rows of seats and its cargo area.

The Dodge Magnums bold shape could redefine the American wagon for the new generation. It carries with it an aggressive signature grill, a broad-shouldered stance, and a cut-down greenhouse. It has an extreme access liftgate at its rear that includes a portion, thus increasing access to any cargo. Its interior, meanwhile, can take in five passengers with easy comfort. The driving position is considered to be excellent, commanding, and comfortable. As per its instrumentation, it is quite legible and arrayed intelligently. It also offers a host of advanced occupant-protection features that includes multi-stage front airbags and available side curtain airbags for its front and rear seats.

Although the new Dodge Magnum is not as spacious as midsize SUVs and has a limit on its cargo space due to its shape, these are quite overcome by its nice 3.5 liter, V6 engines and its Hemi V8s. Also, it has the quiet, composed ride that drivers love and it also is surprisingly agile for its class. Options for this vehicle include a power moonroof, heated seats, front- and rear-seat side curtains airbags, power seats with leather, and power-adjustable pedals.

Dodge Challenger To Be Built At Brampton Plant

Dodge Challenger To Be Built At Brampton Plant
By Katie Jones

DaimlerChrysler earlier announced that the 2008 Dodge Challenger will be built at its Brampton Assembly Plant near Toronto.

Reid Bigland, the President and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Canada, said, It's good news that the Dodge Challenger will be added to the Canadian production line-up. Quickly bringing desirable new products such as the Dodge Challenger to market is critical to keeping our plants humming and our dealerships busy.

Before, the Brampton plant manufactures vehicles like the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and the Dodge Magnum and the plant also works on three shifts. Now, it will be joining the Dodge Challenger in its auto repertoire. Production of the Challenger will start next year. Preparations to ready the plant, the production of Dodge body parts, and other facilities for the Challenger are now underway.

Brampton is our first plant to demonstrate the ability to build four models on one line, said Frank Ewasyshyn, the Executive Vice President for manufacturing of the Chrysler Group. As we continue to expand our new model lineup and further implement our flexible manufacturing strategy, other facilities will also have this capability, he adds.

The Dodge Challenger concept was showcased at last years North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The production version, on the other hand, will be true to both its classic and modern origin. So far, the Challenger is the first coupe to be manufactured on Chrysler Groups large car platform. The coupe will be sharing a similar platform with the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and the Dodge Magnum.

The new version is engineered to become a two-door, HEMI V-8-powered, rear-drive vehicle that will boost its ancestors drive feel and capabilities. The company has placed a clock along with the concept car to do the count down to the unveiling of the production version of the Dodge Challenger at the Chicago Auto Show in 2008.

Our speed to market means that Challenger production is now measured in only days, said George Murphy, the Senior Vice President Global Marketing, Chrysler Group. The ability to quickly react to ever-changing consumer tastes is a competitive advantage for the company.

Dodges clock reflects anticipation and it will just a little time before the new Challenger will be available in dealerships. Moreover, the company has already seen ardent feedback to the Dodge Challenger. With its bold and powerful charisma, no Dodge enthusiast or auto aficionado, for that matter, would ignore its radiance. As a fact, 1.5 million visits are recorded on the Dodge.com Web site in 2006 and 20,000 potential customers have asked the company for more product information regarding the all-new Dodge Challenger.

Katie Jones writes for a local newspaper and her beat involves the latest updates in the automotive industry. She is also working on her book on cars during her spare time. You can visit Dodge body parts for more information.

More Machismo For The 2009 Dodge Ram

More Machismo For The 2009 Dodge Ram
By Glady Reign

The second generation of the Dodge Ram made the pickup truck one of the most popular pickups in the market. Marketed for the 1994 model year, the Ram is designed with the iconic grille which gives the vehicle its aggressive look. The popularity of the Rams grille has, in fact, set a benchmark for its competitors. This is where Chrysler took an advantage over its American competitor like General Motors and Ford. From that model year to the 2007 model year, the Dodge Ram has been known for that iconic nose and its power. Recently, the 2009 model year version of the Dodge Ram was spotted and its manufacturer has divulged some information concerning the upcoming version of the Ram.

The 2009 model year version of the Ram is designed using some style concepts used on the Dodge Charger sedan. The nose of the 2009 Dodge Ram looks like that of the Charger. This makes the iconic nose of the Ram even look more aggressive. The gunsight grille which is the staple of the Dodge Ram design for the past years is still present. The headlight configuration is similar to previous Rams. In relation to its grille, the headlight of the 2009 Ram is lower. The body and the rear of the 2009 Ram is unchanged. But since production of the 2009 Ram is still far off, it is possible that there will also be changes made to the rear and body of the Dodge Ram like the Dodge Ram pickup nerf bar.

One thing that the Ram must contend with is its competitors which will be making their presence in the market felt even before this Ram goes into production. One of its strong competitions is the GMC Sierra. The Chevy Silverado is also popular among truck buyers as well as the redesigned Toyota Tundra. Ford is also expected to come out with a redesigned F-150 which is expected to come out after the 2009 Dodge Ram makes its debut in the market. The popularity of the F-150 among truck buyers may cost the Ram significantly in the market. Even if the Ram is considered as the best looking in its family, buyers may tend to wait for the release of the redesigned F-150 instead of buying a Dodge Ram unit.

To increase its appeal among truck buyers, Dodge is expected to give the Ram the same 4.0-liter V6 engine that is being used by the Dodge Nitro SUV. The said engine will give the Ram 260 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. That power will go a long way to make the Ram a strong contender in its class.
